Wimbledon 2022 final: Novak Djokovic wins Wimbledon title, Roger Federer leaves

Wimbledon 2022: Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has won the Wimbledon men’s singles title. Top-seeded Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios of Australia 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 in the final of the third Grand Slam of the year. Kyrgios won the first set with a superb serve. But he could not keep up the pace. Djokovic easily won the second and third sets. Kyrgios also fought in the last set but it was not enough.

Federer left behind
This is Novak Djokovic’s 7th Wimbledon and 21st Grand Slam title. He has surpassed Roger Federer of Switzerland to win the most Grand Slam titles. Federer has won 20 Grand Slam titles so far. Spain’s Rafael Nadal holds the record for winning the most number of 22 titles. Earlier this year, all three players won 20-20 titles. Nadal has won the Australian and French Open. He was ruled out of the Wimbledon semifinals due to a stomach injury.

Kyrgios was playing in the final for the first time
Roger Federer is also the number one Wimbledon winner. He has won eight Wimbledon titles so far. Kyrgios of Australia was playing his first Grand Slam final. He was given a walkover by Nadal in the semi-final due to injury. Kyrgios, who is ranked 40th, was trying to become the first non-ranked champion since Goran Ivanisevic in 2001, but he had no answer to Djokovic’s experience. Ivanisevich is now Djokovic’s coach and was a guest on center court during the match.
