Uddhav Thackeray did not know
Maharashtra has been in turmoil for almost a week. Perhaps CM Uddhav Thackeray and his close aide Sanjay Raut did not know that Eknath Shinde would grow so tall. The party MLAs left and their government collapsed. After the fall of the government, all the BMC councilors have also left Shiv Sena and supported Eknath Shinde. Now Uddhav will have to bow to the plight of MPs or the consequences will be dire.
Shiv Sena MP Gajanan Kirtikar, who attended Uddhav’s meeting, said, “She is an NDA candidate but Draupadi Murmu comes from the tribal community and is a woman.” We must give them our support – that is the demand of all MPs. Uddhav ji has told us that he will give his decision in a day or two. Gajanan Kirtikar further said, “We also supported UPA candidate Pratibha Patil because she is a Marathi woman. We also supported Pranab Mukherjee. Uddhav ji will announce his support to Draupadi Murmu as she is an aboriginal woman. We must look beyond politics for the presidential election.
The BJP leader claims
BJP leader and Union Minister Rao Sahib Danve claimed that 12 Shiv Sena MPs led by Uddhav Thackeray were in touch with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction and were ready to change sides. Talking to reporters here, Danve also said that Shiv Sena could support National Democratic Alliance (NDA) presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu as she is a tribal.
12 MPs ready to quit party
“Twelve Shiv Sena MPs are ready to leave the party and are about to join the Eknath Shinde camp,” the Jalna MP said. Shiv Sena has 18 members in the Lok Sabha. Danve also said that the Shinde faction is the real Shiv Sena as it has two-thirds of the total (55) MLAs. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had convened a meeting today to discuss this month’s presidential election. Earlier, some party MPs, including Rahul Shewale, had appealed for support to National Democratic Alliance (NDA) presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu.
