The order to build the train was given in 2018


In 2018, the French state-run rail company and TGV-controlled SNCF ordered 100 TGV M trains at a cost of $2.7 billion. An additional 15 trains were ordered in August 2022. Alstom says most of the trains will run in France and about 15 trains will run internationally.

The speed is 350 km per hour

Operating the TGV M will require some infrastructure changes on the French rail network. For example, STOP signs will have to be changed at some stations.
