New DelhiSubhash Ghai has made films like ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Karz’, ‘Taal’, ‘Pardes’. He says today’s actors are like 90s stars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Aamir Khan. He believes that new artists lack dedication towards work. In a new interview, Subhash Ghai talks about how actors are now focusing more on promoting big brands than doing good work.
Subhash made his first film ‘Kalicharan’ with Shatrughan Sinha in the year 1976 which was a big hit. According to media reports, the producer during an interview talked about the making of films and the behavior of the new generation of actors. He says, ’90s actors still understand the importance of the story, be it Shahrukh, Salman or Aamir, they want the work to be good, but today’s generation wants the money to come first. They are only concerned about their branding and fees.
He adds, ‘They feel that they have become a big brand, they are surrounded by a group that also asks them to look left or right. Those ‘soap oil’ people leave their shoots and go to commercials. It will make a difference. Have you ever heard of Rajesh Khanna or Anil Kapoor when they were doing commercials? When you come home from the theater, the actor is selling oil.
Subhash Ghai finally says, ‘You start to wonder what has happened to him. Ever since you saw him on the big screen, he has been talking about patriotism. Subhash Ghai has not done any film since 2016. Even in the year 2018, he was caught in the MeToo controversy. Later he got a clean chit from the Mumbai police in this case.
