Young Indian shooter Arjun Babuta won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the ISSF World Cup on Monday. This is India’s first medal in the Shooting World Cup in Changwon, South Korea. In the gold medal match, Arjun defeated Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Lukas Kojenski 17-9.
Arjun, 23, from Punjab, has been representing India since 2016. Earlier, he topped the rankings with a score of 661.1 and secured a place in the gold medal race. This is Arjun’s first gold medal with the senior team. He has won a total of three medals at the Junior Shooting World Cup, including one gold. He won the gold medal in the team event at the 2016 Junior World Cup in Gabala, Azerbaijan. He has also won two bronze medals in the individual event.
Parth Makhija, another Indian who took part in the event, finished fourth with a score of 258.1. Sergei Richter, 33, of Israel, finished third with a score of 259.9.
