Punjab News: Clash between followers of Radha Swami Satsang Beas and Nihang Sikhs, 11 people injured including a policeman

Anmitsar:A clash broke out between the Nihang Sikhs and the followers of Radha Swami Satsang Beas on Sunday when the Nihang Sikhs allegedly tried to force their way into the camp to graze their cattle. 10 persons and one policeman were injured in this incident. Police said that during the clash, both sides threw stones and bricks at each other and some persons fired shots in the air. Amritsar (Rural) Senior Superintendent of Police Swapan Sharma said that the police resorted to light lathicharge to disperse the Nihangs and Dera supporters and the situation is now under control. A large number of police have been deployed around the camp.

According to the police, a group of Nihangs wanted to enter the camp to graze their cattle, but the followers of the Radha Swami sect opposed it and stopped them from entering. According to the police, an argument broke out between the two parties. According to the police, a Nihangan allegedly attacked Radha Swami Satsang Beas security in-charge Paramdeep Singh Teja and sustained a shoulder injury.

Davinder Kumar, in-charge of Jandila Guru police station present at the spot, tried to intervene and he also got injured. According to the police, the situation worsened when a group of Nihangs again tried to force their way into the camp, leading to a clash between the two factions. Dera supporters claim that Nihangs broke down one of the entrances to the camp. Apart from the police officer, a total of 10 people from both sides were injured. The injured have been admitted to Baba Bakala Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring appealed to everyone to remain calm and avoid spreading wrong information. Wedding tweeted that disturbing news is coming from Radha Swami Dera, Beas, where a dispute led to a violent incident. Some people are reported to be injured. All are requested to remain calm and not spread any wrong information on social media. Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal has also appealed to the people to maintain peace and brotherhood.

Badal tweeted that the violence in Beas is very disturbing. Frequent clashes and breakdown of law and order are pushing the state towards anarchy. I appeal to (Chief Minister) Bhagwant Mann to deal with this situation immediately. I also appeal to Punjabis to maintain peace and brotherhood in this critical time.
