Today is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. He is 72 years old. He was born on this day in 1950. Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of the country, who was born in independent India. On 26 May 2014, he became the 15th Prime Minister of the country. He was sworn in by the then President of the country, Pranab Mukherjee. Five years later, in 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won re-election under the leadership of Modi. After this he started his second term as Prime Minister. Born in an ordinary family, Modi’s rise to the pinnacle of power was extraordinary. It is a proof that if man has soul then everything is possible. Modi was born in a simple family

The Prime Minister was born in Vadnagar, Gujarat. His father’s name was Damodar Das Mulchand Modi. His mother’s name is Hiraben. The Prime Minister comes second among his 5 siblings. Modi’s father had a tea stall at the railway station. The Prime Minister himself has told that once he used to sell tea. He served tea to soldiers passing through the station during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1965. He studied at the Bhagavatacharya Narayancharya School in Vadnagar. He excelled in extra-curricular activities. He loved to participate in acting, debates, plays. He is also NCC. One day Modi brought home a baby crocodile from a nearby pond. On his mother’s request, he left her again in the pond.

Old association with RSS


Narendra Modi joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the early 1970s. Modi was very hardworking and diligent. Gradually they were given bigger responsibilities in the organization. People saw in him an efficient manager. The responsibility of railway and bus reservation was put on the shoulders of all the RSS leaders. Thus his stature within the organization increased.

Keep the beard from the beginning

Narendra Modi has had a beard since the beginning. When the Emergency came in 1975, he disguised himself as a Sardar and evaded the police for two and a half years. Modi does most of his work himself. There was not much trouble in washing the clothes, so he cut off the arm of the kurta and started wearing it. Later it became his style.

Then Modi went to America for the first time

Modi has done a three-month course related to management and public relations in America. From the beginning he has been fond of traveling. In the 90s, he visited America for the first time with his friends. They also posed for a picture outside the White House.

The tricolor was hoisted at Lal Chowk of Kashmir

On 26 January 1992, on the occasion of Republic Day, the BJP hoisted the tricolor flag at Lal Chowk in Kashmir under the leadership of BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi. At that time Narendra Modi was also with him. The journey to reach there started from Kanyakumari. The whole task of arranging the trip was in the hands of Narendra Modi. He did this work very expertly.

Before becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat for three terms (2001-2014). He took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time on 7 October 2001.

He became the Prime Minister in 2014


Narendra Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister on 26 May 2014. He is a BJP Member of Parliament from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi contested from both Vadodara and Varanasi Lok Sabha seats. They were successful from both the seats with huge votes. However, he later vacated the Vadodara seat.

Prime Minister again in 2019


Five years later, in 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won re-election under the leadership of Modi. After this he started his second term as Prime Minister.
