Kerala News: Crack in Kerala’s Left Front over Rajya Sabha seat, LDF slams CPI

Thiruvananthapuram: He and his party broke their silence after the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) decided to hand over the current Rajya Sabha seat of the LJD to the CPI (M). MV LJD president Shreyas Kumar said the CPI had negotiated for the seat. Kumar is the son of MP Virender Kumar. He won the Rajya Sabha seat in 2020 after his father’s death. His term ends on April 2. Meanwhile, as three Rajya Sabha seats, including Kumar’s, were vacant, the LDF decided to hand over Kumar’s seat to the CPI and the decision angered Kumar.

Kumar said the CPI used its bargaining power to win seats. We are now taking the CPI’s position seriously on issues like railways, changes in Lokayukta rules and liquor policy. What I understood was in the recently concluded assembly session, the CPI (M). The members of the party have a different position on the issues. But CPI (M) state secretary Kanam Rajendran did not listen to Kumar and said that all this was discussed at the LDF meeting. “I don’t think there is a need to respond as the LDF has approved it and nomination papers have been filed and therefore it is a closed chapter,” Rajendran said.

Roy: What else is watching? ਕਿਹਾ Priyanka said, but only Ajay Kumar Lallu’s resignation, why?
The CPI is the second largest party in the LDF, while Kumar’s party has only one MLA. The LJD was an ally of the Congress-led UDF till 2017 and has since joined the LDF.
