New Delhi: Ahead of the three-match T20 series against Australia, the Indian cricket team has suffered a major setback. Team India’s experienced fast bowler Mohammad Shami may be out of the series due to corona infection. Shami has not come to Mohali with the team due to corona positive. The first T20 match between India and Australia will be played on September 20 in Mohali. According to a Cricbuzz report, both Team India and Australia have reached Mohali on Saturday.
In such a situation, Shami’s exit from the series has become a matter of concern for the team. This series was very important for Shami himself. Shami was about to return to Team India from this home series against Australia. Shami last played for Team India in the T20 World Cup last year. However, he has not got much opportunity in this format.
Shami has played only 17 matches for India in T20, in which he has taken 18 wickets. He has not been very effective in this format but his recent performances in Tests and ODIs led to his inclusion in the T20 squad. Apart from this, Shami has been kept on standby in the T20 World Cup team to be held in Australia this year.
Along with this, someone will be included in the team instead of Shami, the team management has not clarified anything yet.
