West Indies T20 expert Chris Gayle is going to play in the new T20 league in India. He will be seen playing for Gujarat Giants in the Legends League Cricket (LLC) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on September 16. The team is owned by Adani Sportsline. As per the draft rules of the LLC, franchisees have three days to finalize their respective squads, including any additional selections of cricket greats with their available franchise wallets.
The Giants spent Rs 5,51,80,000 on 15 giants during the virtual draft on Friday and were left with Rs 2,48,20,000 to finalize their squad. Raman Raheja, CEO and Co-Founder, LLC, “After Friday’s draft, Gujarat Giants had clearly expressed their desire to buy Chris Gayle from the remaining balance of his personal franchise purse of Rs 8 crore. We discussed facilitated and we are delighted that Gayle Adani will be seen playing for the Sportsline team.
Along with Parthiv Patel, Gayle will be seen playing local favorite and West Indies batsman Lendal Simmons. Sri Lanka’s enigmatic spinner Ajanta Mendis and former New Zealand captain and left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori will lead the spin department, while Mitchell McClenaghan will lead the pace department.
