China Nepal Relations: Efforts to connect Oli-Prachand in China Nepal, Xi Jinping is sending his number-3

Kathmandu: Li Zhanshu, president of the National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s parliament, will visit Kathmandu next week, during which he will hold talks with Nepal’s top leadership. According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Lee will visit Nepal on September 12 at the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agni Prasad Sapkota. Li Zhanshu is the third highest leader of China after President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang. According to the release, Lee will hold delegation-level talks with Sapkota during his visit. Sapkota will also host an evening banquet in honor of the Chinese leader as well as members of his delegation.

Jhanshu will also meet the President of Nepal
During his visit to Nepal, Li Zhanshu will meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. According to this, Lee will also meet National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsena and External Affairs Minister Narayan Khadka. According to the release, former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) K. P Sharma Oli and former Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center President Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachand” will also hold separate meetings with the Chinese leader.

Why are Xiping’s special coming to Nepal?
Elections are proposed to be held in Nepal on November 20 this year. In such a situation, the visit of China’s biggest communist official to Nepal before the elections is being interpreted in many ways. China is trying to form a Maoist-central alliance of KP Sharma Oli’s Communist Party of Nepal (UML) and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachand before the elections. Oli is openly taking anti-India decisions. He is considered a pro-China leader. In such a situation, if Dahal separates from the government, Deuba of the Nepali Congress will have to resign.
